Leading and Film Making

Trying our hands at film making has given me some prospective.  What does it mean to be a leader/director?  How do you captivate and motivate the folks around you? Is it Passion? Expertise? Being gracious? Being uncompromising? Losing arguments? Losing sleep? Possibly a combination of all.   Eventually, being the boss means you can call the crew and inform them where they need to be, and then inform them that you are gonna sleep a bit more. It means giving trust to the crew that YOU put together. Will they respect you and carry out your commands? Trusting that YOU will be OK with what THEY did is completely essential.  The best crews in the world respect their leader and that respect is MUTUAL.   Two grainy night Iphone production stills from an up coming project.
